• February to November 2008
Herbal Studies Certification Program
- Rabun County, Georgia

Patricia Kyritsi Howell’s innovative herb program, now in its 13th year, opens the door to a profound understanding and experience of healing with plants. Every aspect of this program takes you deeper into a personal relationship with local medicinal plants, the rhythm of the seasons and the timeless elements of traditional healing. We encourage your innate ability to heal yourself and others. Our goal is to develop your knowledge of herbs so that you will use them with confidence for the rest of your life.

You will learn:

• Principles of traditional healing systems (Five Phase Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine).

• Medicinal properties of more than 60 herbs.

• How to make herbal tinctures, infused oils, teas and more.

• Herbs that heal specific body systems (cardiovascular, reproductive, etc.).

• Health assessment techniques.

• How to create herbal formulas to treat everyday health problems.

• Herbal strategies to improve your own health.

• How to use essential oils (aromatherapy).

• Basic field botany and plant identification.

• Ethical harvesting methods.

Our faculty has expanded. In addition to Patricia Kyritsi Howell, RH (AHG), teachers will include Robinette Kennedy, PhD (Intake and Health Assessment Skills), Lorna Mauney-Brodek, (Medicine Making), Jane Nelson, (Drug-Herb Interactions) and Joie Power, PhD (Aromatherapy).
